"We didn't know about sugar in the blood."


Survival International, who defend the rights of the world's tribal peoples, are an organisation I respect immensely - not only for their vision and purpose, but for their creativity in getting their message across. In particular, I find their photo galleries very effective and emotive.

Today is World Diabetes Day, and Survival have put together a gallery of images depicting the causes and escalation of the disease among the Innu population of north-eastern Canada. These are just two of the striking, sad and beautiful photos.
